Role at a Glance
Hiive's Sales & Trading desk is adding a junior associate to manage buyer and seller relationships on its pre-IPO secondary market platform. This is a client-facing, operationally intensive role based in downtown Vancouver. Salary: CAD 120,000–240,000/yr. FINRA Series 7 & 63 licensing required. Equity participation and 100% employer-paid benefits included. 1–3 years of relevant finance experience needed.
What This Role Is
This position places you on the front lines of Hiive's transaction desk, where you'll own client relationships end-to-end — from first contact and onboarding through trade execution and settlement. The day-to-day blends outbound prospecting and relationship management with meticulous transaction documentation and cross-functional coordination. It's a strong fit for early-career finance professionals seeking exposure to private-market deal flow who are equally comfortable building client rapport and navigating compliance detail.
About Hiive
Hiive operates an institutional-grade marketplace for secondary transactions in private, venture-backed companies — connecting buyers, sellers, and issuers who need liquidity ahead of an IPO event. The platform targets the pricing transparency and process standardization that public markets offer but that private secondary markets have historically lacked. Profitable and well-capitalized, Hiive is backed by leading U.S. investors and has been recognized as one of Canada's fastest-growing companies. Its headquarters sit in downtown Vancouver, BC.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the primary contact for clients navigating the platform, managing onboarding and the ongoing client experience
- Translate market data and platform activity into clear, actionable guidance that helps clients make confident decisions
- Shepherd transactions from first inquiry through compliance review, execution, and final settlement via email, phone, and live chat
- Audit transaction documentation and platform records to catch errors and maintain data integrity across the desk
- Coordinate with legal, operations, and internal stakeholders to resolve deal roadblocks and close transactions on schedule
- Run outbound prospecting campaigns to source and qualify new buyers and sellers, expanding platform liquidity
- Maintain accurate pipeline records and transaction metrics to uphold desk standards for speed, compliance, and client satisfaction
- Build deep fluency with the Hiive platform to provide expert support at any stage of the client journey
Must-Have Qualifications
- 1–3 years in a relevant finance role — institutional sales or trading, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, investor relations, business development, or investment sales
- Demonstrated experience prospecting and generating leads in a high-volume outreach environment
- Ability to hold relationship management and operational rigor simultaneously — transactions must close accurately, not just quickly
- Strong organizational skills and prioritization discipline to manage overlapping client relationships and deal timelines
- Solid financial acumen or a proven ability to rapidly master complex market dynamics
- FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 licenses currently held, or a firm commitment to obtain them shortly after joining
Skills Breakdown: What the Role Actually Demands
Core requirements split into two parallel tracks: client-facing capability (high-volume prospecting, relationship management, translating market data into actionable guidance) and operational precision (transaction documentation, compliance workflows, pipeline tracking). FINRA Series 7 and 63 licensing is a hard gate — Hiive accepts candidates who don't yet hold them but expects prompt completion post-hire. At the 1–3 year level, deep secondary-market expertise is not required; financial acumen plus demonstrable fast-learning ability are explicitly acceptable substitutes. No optional nice-to-have skills are specified in the posting.
Salary and Compensation
Hiive has published a total compensation range of CAD 120,000–240,000 per year — a wide band that likely reflects meaningful differentiation by licensing status, prior experience, and individual contribution. This is the employer's stated range; the final offer is determined by Hiive. Beyond base salary, the role includes equity through Hiive's employee stock option plan, offering upside participation in a company that is already profitable. Canadian-based employees receive 100% employer-paid health and dental premiums plus a Health and Personal Spending Account. A $20/day commuter benefit applies for each day worked at the Vancouver HQ.
