What This Role Is About

As a Behavior Technician at MeBe Family, you'll work one-on-one with children on the autism spectrum, conducting sessions both in clients' homes and at the Mesa Learning Center. Your day-to-day is built around implementing ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy plans designed by BCBAs — helping each child make concrete gains in communication, self-help, social engagement, and play. You'll track progress each session using a company-provided tablet, keep supervising clinicians informed, and help families feel like genuine partners in their child's development. This is a hands-on, relationship-driven role where the work is tangible and the impact is immediate.

About MeBe Family

MeBe Family delivers evidence-based therapies for children with autism and developmental differences. Their model is intentionally multidisciplinary — weaving together Applied Behavior Analysis, Occupational Therapy, and Speech-Language Therapy into a play-informed, research-grounded approach. The company's stated mission extends beyond direct treatment: they aim to train and equip the families, educators, and communities surrounding each child with practical tools that outlast any individual session. MeBe is in a growth phase and explicitly positions itself as a place to build a career, not just fill a shift — with internal pathways toward BCBA and BCaBA credentialing baked into the structure.

What You'll Do Day-to-Day

  • Deliver 1:1 ABA therapy in clients' homes and at MeBe's Learning Center, targeting communication, self-care, social, and play skill development for children with autism
  • Execute BCBA-developed treatment plans with fidelity, adapting your approach within sessions to match each child's responses
  • Log accurate session data in CentralReach on a company-provided tablet at the close of every session and submit session notes per ABA and insurance compliance standards
  • Share progress observations with supervising BCBAs and assist with formal clinical assessments as needed
  • Support children during daily care moments within sessions — including mealtimes, restroom breaks, and diaper changes where applicable
  • Clock in and out accurately to satisfy ABA billing and insurance documentation requirements
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment in clinic settings
  • Build respectful, boundaried working relationships with clients' families
  • Escalate questions, observations, or concerns to supervisors promptly
  • Contribute to team culture and the broader MeBe mission

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Age 18 or older
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle (home visits are part of the role)
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Consistent Monday–Friday availability
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Physical capability to bend, lift up to 50 lbs, squat, sit, stand, and run without accommodation
  • Basic computer and tablet proficiency for session documentation
  • RBT or CBT certification obtained within 60 days of hire (MeBe provides paid training to support this)
  • CPR/BLS certification required prior to seeing clients for those based in San Diego, AZ, or VA

Preferred but Not Required

  • Active RBT or CBT certification at time of application
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, education, child development, or a related field
  • Prior direct experience with children with autism or other developmental disabilities

Skills That Set You Up to Succeed

The most transferable foundation for this role is consistency and interpersonal steadiness — children in ABA therapy develop trust through reliable, calm adults. CentralReach and clinical documentation are trained on the job; no prior platform experience is assumed. Any background involving children (tutoring, coaching, childcare, teaching assistance) translates directly to the sensory and behavioral awareness this work demands. For candidates with a BCBA career goal, MeBe's Candidate Program makes this role a structured, supported entry point rather than a detour — the supervision hours you log here count toward board certification requirements.

Pay and Compensation Details

MeBe Family lists this role at $20–24 per hour, with placement within that range tied to prior experience. No additional salary detail beyond this band appears in the posting; candidates should expect to discuss exact placement during the offer conversation. The role is TRICARE-certified, meaning MeBe is authorized to serve clients covered by TRICARE military health insurance — worth noting if you have connections to military families or are one yourself. Unlimited employee referral bonuses are also part of the pay picture for anyone who brings strong candidates to the team.

Benefits Package

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance — MeBe covers 80% of employee premiums and 50% for dependents

  • MeBe Candidate Program: continuing education support for BTs pursuing BCBA or BCaBA credentials

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an RBT certification before applying to this Behavior Technician role?

The posted range is $20–24 per hour, depending on prior experience. Exact placement within that band is determined during the hiring process and is not further specified in the job posting.

Will I be working at a clinic, or do I need to travel to clients' homes?

Both. Sessions are conducted in clients' homes across the Mesa area and at MeBe's Learning Center. Reliable personal transportation and a valid driver's license are required for home visits.

What education level is required to qualify?

A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is the minimum required. A bachelor's degree is preferred but not required — the role is designed to be accessible to those entering the field, with meaningful training provided from day one.
