Role at a Glance
A full-stack engineering position inside BTG Pactual's AI Platform team — the group building generative AI agents, LLM products, and the shared cloud infrastructure used bank-wide. Core stack: Python and FastAPI on AWS serverless for the back end, React/TypeScript on the front end. Hybrid schedule: two in-office days per week at Faria Lima or Av. Paulista, São Paulo. Salary not disclosed.
What This Role Is About
BTG Pactual's AI Platform team sits at the center of the bank's push to make generative AI and machine learning operational across its business units. This full-stack engineering position contributes directly to that shared infrastructure — designing REST APIs, maintaining internal services, and building web applications that data scientists, business teams, and external clients rely on. You'll carry both back-end and front-end responsibilities while actively shaping architecture decisions and technical direction for a platform used at organizational scale.
About BTG Pactual
BTG Pactual is Brazil's largest investment bank and one of Latin America's most prominent financial institutions, with operations spanning investment banking, asset management, wealth management, and digital retail banking. The AI Platform division referenced in this role functions as an internal product team, building the shared ML infrastructure and tooling that lets hundreds of engineering, quant, and business teams leverage machine learning at scale. The group is actively building agentic AI systems — not just wiring up off-the-shelf models — which places this team closer to applied AI research than to typical fintech application work.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, build, and continuously evolve the AI Platform infrastructure that serves engineering, business, and operations teams across the bank
- Develop and maintain REST APIs, internal libraries, backend services, and web-facing applications for internal and external clients
- Contribute to architecture discussions covering scalability, reliability, observability, and system performance
- Review and refine design patterns in collaboration with the broader engineering team
- Own CI/CD pipelines end to end: automated test suites, rollback strategies, and deployment workflows
- Build front-end interfaces that surface platform services and AI products to internal and external users
- Partner with data science, AI, and business teams to translate requirements into production-ready, scalable solutions
Must-Have Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
- Availability to work hybrid — two days per week on-site at BTG Pactual offices in Faria Lima or Av. Paulista, São Paulo
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Hands-on experience building REST APIs with FastAPI, Django REST Framework, or a comparable Python framework
- Experience with both relational and non-relational databases
- Practical AWS experience across core services: CloudFormation, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, SQS, DynamoDB, and RDS
- Experience with AWS serverless architecture patterns
- Solid grounding in systems architecture trade-offs: scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability
- Active engagement in technical design discussions and project-level engineering decisions
- Fluency with modern engineering practices: automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and AI coding tools
Differentials That Will Strengthen Your Application
- Hands-on experience with agentic AI systems — RAG pipelines, vector databases, or multi-agent architectures
- Domain-Driven Design (DDD) or comparable architectural patterns
- Familiarity with data platform concepts: Data Warehouse, Data Lakehouse, or Data Mesh
- Kubernetes cluster operations or deployment experience
- React.js and TypeScript front-end development with modern best practices
- Micro front-end architecture and Webpack Module Federation
Skills Breakdown: Core vs. Bonus
The non-negotiable foundation is Python plus AWS serverless: you need to be comfortable writing FastAPI services and deploying them via Lambda, ECS, or behind API Gateway. SQL and NoSQL fluency (DynamoDB and RDS) is assumed throughout, and CI/CD ownership is treated as a core competency, not a secondary concern. The bonus column tilts toward AI infrastructure depth — RAG pipelines, vector databases, multi-agent systems — and front-end breadth (React, TypeScript, micro-front-end patterns). Back-end serverless is the center of gravity; strong back-end candidates who lack deep React or AI/ML exposure are still fully viable applicants.
Salary & Compensation
No salary range has been published for this position. The package includes a profit-sharing program (PLR — Participação nos Lucros e Resultados), which is a meaningful variable component in Brazilian investment banking; actual PLR values vary by seniority, team performance, and annual results. Beyond base and PLR, the benefits package is extensive and includes medical, dental, childcare assistance, and extended parental leave. Candidates should ask for a base salary range during the first recruiter screen — total-comp conversations at BTG Pactual typically address base pay, PLR expectations, and benefits valuation together.

Location & Work Arrangement
This role is São Paulo-based with two in-office days required per week. The posting lists both Faria Lima — Brazil's primary financial district — and Av. Paulista as office locations, depending on team scheduling. The remaining days may be worked remotely, making this a genuine hybrid arrangement. No relocation assistance or visa sponsorship details were mentioned in the job posting; candidates should confirm availability and eligibility directly with the recruiter.
