Role at a Glance

Executive seat owning the full revenue target at a VC-backed men's health company. Scope covers paid media, influencer and affiliate programs, brand storytelling, creative strategy, post-click conversion, and team org design — fully remote in the US. Reports directly to the CEO. Salary not published; strong equity package with an extended options exercise window included.

What This Role Is

Maximus is building out its executive marketing layer with a Head of Growth & Marketing to own the entire revenue and acquisition operation. This is not a channel manager position — you will set strategy, build the forecasting model, restructure the team, manage agencies, and report results directly to the CEO. The first-year mandate is concrete: hit the company revenue target, improve CAC through persona-matched customer journeys, and reduce platform dependence by turning influencer, affiliate, and search into primary acquisition channels alongside Meta.

About Maximus

Maximus is a consumer health company focused on men's performance — combining editorial content, peer community, and clinical care pathways to help men improve their physical and mental well-being. The company has raised $15 million from prominent Silicon Valley investors including Founders Fund and 8VC, with additional backing from operators who have built notable brands across health, consumer tech, and fintech. Maximus runs a culture-forward hiring process: candidates complete a values questionnaire (optional at application but strongly prioritized), and the company explicitly values intellectual diversity alongside mission alignment.

What You Will Own

  • Set and own the company revenue target; build and maintain the financial model linking marketing spend, CAC, LTV, and conversion by product line — and report results directly to the CEO and leadership team
  • Define distinct buyer personas for each acquisition channel, using channel context as a downstream signal for creative, messaging, and intake-flow decisions
  • Lead creative strategy and messaging architecture: develop persona-specific concepts adapted natively to Meta, paid search, influencer, affiliate, and emerging channels — with a testing discipline tied to funnel outcomes rather than click-level metrics
  • Drive brand marketing across formats and mediums to build awareness and educate buyers in a crowded, commoditized category
  • Manage the full paid media portfolio — budgets, agencies, optimization, and measurement — and scale influencer, creator, and affiliate programs into primary, measurable acquisition channels
  • Own the post-click customer experience end to end: persona-matched landing pages, ad-to-intake messaging continuity, email and SMS lifecycle, and funnel CRO so the buyer never feels the handoff between touchpoints
  • Restructure the existing marketing team and agency roster, hire key senior roles, and establish the operating rhythm for planning, budgeting, creative reviews, reporting, and experimentation cadence

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 10+ years in growth or performance marketing, including at least 5 years in a team leadership capacity
  • Demonstrated track record scaling a DTC subscription business with a premium-priced, high-consideration product — commodity impulse-purchase DTC experience alone does not qualify
  • Direct ownership of a revenue number, not just a media budget: has built the spend-to-revenue forecasting model and defended it to a CEO or board
  • Hands-on, practitioner-level fluency in paid social and paid search — not just directional oversight of channel managers
  • Real experience building influencer and affiliate programs, not only managing them through agencies
  • A documented portfolio of persona-driven creative strategy: can articulate who a campaign targeted, why the message fit that audience, and what it delivered in the funnel
  • End-to-end ownership of post-click conversion, including landing page testing, email and SMS lifecycle CRM, attribution modeling, incrementality analysis, and cohort forecasting
  • Org-building track record: has restructured or built a marketing organization, hired senior channel leads, and managed external agencies toward defined performance targets

Helpful but Not Required

  • Experience in telehealth, regulated health, or wellness marketing — specifically familiarity with health-claim advertising policies and compliance-constrained creative production
  • Background marketing a multi-product portfolio where each product serves a distinct buyer persona with different intent signals
  • Working experience using AI tooling to scale team output without proportionally scaling headcount

Skills That Matter for This Role

The non-negotiable technical stack is paid social (Meta), paid search, attribution and cohort analytics, landing page optimization, and email and SMS lifecycle management. On the strategic side, revenue modeling and persona-driven creative direction are mandatory — this role owns the number, not just the channel. Org design and agency management are equally required: you are inheriting a team to restructure, not starting from zero headcount. The nice-to-haves — health-category compliance experience and AI tooling fluency — reward candidates who can accelerate output in a regulated creative environment, but a strong DTC subscription generalist with demonstrated multi-channel ownership can succeed without them.

Compensation and Equity

Maximus has not disclosed a base salary for this position. No range appears in the job posting; candidates should raise compensation expectations directly during the interview process. On the equity side, the company offers a notably candidate-friendly options exercise window: three months per year of service, scaling up to one full year for employees with four or more years of tenure. Options liquidity events are made available to employees when they occur. Health coverage is underwritten at up to 80% by the employer, and the company describes its 401(k) offering as best-in-class — making the total benefits package a material component of overall compensation beyond base salary.

Benefits

  • Blue Shield Platinum PPO and HMO health plans with up to 80% employer coverage
  • Comprehensive benefits suite: medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Best-in-class 401(k) retirement plan options
  • Flexible vacation and time-off policies
  • Equity options with liquidity events made available to employees when they occur
  • Extended options exercise window: three months per year of service, up to one year for employees with four or more years of tenure

Location and Remote Setup

This is a fully remote position open to US-based candidates. The listing references New York as a location signal but the role carries a remote work model with no office attendance requirement stated. No information about relocation assistance or visa sponsorship appears in the posting — candidates who require either should confirm eligibility directly with Maximus before applying. The company also discloses that AI note-taking technology is used during interview sessions.

Is industry-specific health or telehealth experience required?

No. Experience in telehealth, regulated health, or wellness marketing is listed as a nice-to-have rather than a hard requirement.
