Job Snapshot
Anduril Industries is hiring a Low Observables Engineer, RCS in Costa Mesa, California. The role centers on radar cross section analysis, LO air vehicle design support, materials modeling, manufacturing validation, and RCS testing. Candidates need at least 3 years with LO aircraft, a STEM degree, and an active U.S. Top Secret clearance.
Role Overview
This engineering position supports low observable unmanned air vehicle programs within Anduril's Air Dominance and Strike work. The engineer will help evaluate how components and complete vehicles perform from an RCS perspective, improve analysis methods, and connect design decisions to testing and manufacturing plans. It is a hands-on technical role for someone who understands stealth aircraft constraints across design, materials, integration, and validation.
About Anduril Industries
Anduril Industries builds defense technology for U.S. and allied military customers, including autonomous systems, sensing, networking, AI, computer vision, and command-and-control software. Its Lattice OS platform is used to combine many data streams into a real-time operational picture. This opening sits on a team focused on reducing radar and infrared signatures so unmanned air systems can operate more effectively in contested environments.
What You Will Work On
- Support the design and development of low observable unmanned air vehicles.
- Run broadband RCS analysis for both individual components and full aircraft configurations.
- Build or improve tools, workflows, and validation methods used in RCS analysis.
- Model LO materials and help optimize how they are applied to components and air vehicles.
- Contribute to manufacturing plans and validation approaches for LO air vehicle programs.
- Plan and carry out RCS testing for components and air vehicles in appropriate test environments.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 3 or more years of experience working with low observable aircraft.
- Strong working knowledge of LO design, analysis, and validation methods.
- Experience with RCS or CEM analysis tools such as X-Patch, SENTRi, McMoM2D, FEKO, HFSS, CST, or comparable proprietary tools.
- Ability to model and design with low observable materials.
- Experience with LO airframe design, LO coating integration, and subsystem integration.
- CAD experience with tools such as NX or CATIA.
- Exposure to manufacturing methods including composites, 3D printing, casting, injection molding, or similar processes.
- Experience with indoor or outdoor RCS testing for LO components or air vehicles.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM discipline.
- Active U.S. Top Secret security clearance, with the ability to maintain it.
Preferred Experience
- Designing and manufacturing low observable materials.
- LO manufacturing techniques related to edge treatments.
- Designing LO apertures or performing RCS analysis for apertures.
- RCS flight testing experience.
- Experience using Tier 1 or Tier 2 inspection tools.
- Scripting experience with Matlab, Python, or C++.
Skills Breakdown
The core skill set is specialized aerospace and defense engineering: LO aircraft experience, RCS analysis, CEM tooling, LO materials, CAD, manufacturing awareness, and test execution. Matlab, Python, and C++ are listed as preferred scripting tools rather than baseline requirements. With a 3+ year minimum and independent analysis expectations, this reads as a mid-level role with room for deeper specialization.
Compensation
The employer lists a U.S. base salary range of $129,000 to $171,000. The range is for base salary only, and the final offer may vary based on factors such as experience, education, training, critical skills, and business needs. Anduril also states that equity grants are included in most full-time offers, but no specific equity value is provided.
