Role at a Glance

A remote-eligible mobile UI design position at BJAK, Southeast Asia's leading insurance and AI neobank platform. Requires 2+ years of mobile UI experience, expert Figma proficiency, and solid command of iOS and Android platform guidelines. You will ship production-ready screens for financial products used daily by millions of users across the region. Salary not disclosed by the employer.

What This Role Is

This is a hands-on, product-embedded design role where your output goes directly into BJAK's financial apps — not into spec files that never ship. You will own the full design lifecycle: from early wireframes and user flows through interactive prototypes to production-ready UI. The work spans multiple financial verticals — insurance, payments, claims, and investments — on both iOS and Android. Collaboration with engineers is close and continuous, with an expectation of pixel-accurate handoffs and iterative improvement driven by real usage data.

About BJAK

BJAK launched in 2019 with one goal: give people in Southeast Asia better tools to manage, save, and grow their money. Within a few years it built and scaled the region's first mobile-first insurance marketplace into the leading platform of its kind in SEA. Today the company is extending beyond insurance into a broader financial ecosystem — spending, saving, investing, foreign exchange, and travel — effectively building a full-featured AI neobank. Teams operate across more than 20 nationalities, both from regional offices and remotely, with English as the shared working language.

What You Will Own

  • Design intuitive, production-ready interfaces for iOS and Android applications across BJAK's financial product suite
  • Create wireframes, user flows, and interactive prototypes from concept to final engineering handoff
  • Design UI across financial verticals including insurance, payments, claims, and investment products
  • Build and maintain a mobile design system with scalable, reusable components
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to achieve pixel-accurate implementation
  • Optimise interfaces for accessibility, usability, and platform-specific guidelines
  • Iterate on live product experiences using analytics, usability findings, and product feedback
  • Ensure visual consistency across device sizes, screen resolutions, and both major operating systems

Must-Have Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience designing native mobile applications (iOS and/or Android)
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality mobile UI work — submission is mandatory
  • Expert proficiency in Figma including Auto Layout, design systems, and interactive prototyping
  • Deep working knowledge of iOS Human Interface Guidelines and Android Material Design
  • Strong understanding of responsive mobile layouts, mobile usability, and interaction design
  • Sharp eye for typography, colour, spacing, and visual hierarchy
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complex financial workflows into clean, navigable mobile experiences
  • Strong English communication skills for a globally distributed team

Skills Breakdown: Must-Have vs Nice-to-Have

Every requirement listed is a hard prerequisite — BJAK draws no explicit line between mandatory and bonus skills, so the requirements list is the complete bar. On tooling: expert-level Figma is non-negotiable, with Auto Layout, design systems, and interactive prototyping each called out individually. Platform knowledge of both iOS Human Interface Guidelines and Android Material Design is required, not preferred. The 2+ year threshold and mandatory portfolio submission point to a mid-level hire; this is not an entry-level opening. No bonus or exploratory skills are listed — scope is tightly defined around mobile product UI.

Salary & Compensation

The employer has not disclosed a salary range for this role. JobForMe does not estimate or supplement undisclosed figures. Candidates should benchmark independently before entering the process — Singapore fintech salary surveys, Glassdoor, and regional design community resources are practical starting points. BJAK's interview cycle is intentionally fast, with offers targeted within one week for strong candidates, so having a compensation floor in mind before the first conversation is advisable.

Location & Work Model

This role is fully remote, but Singapore residency is a firm requirement — BJAK is hiring specifically for the Singapore market and will not consider applicants located elsewhere. No information on relocation assistance or visa sponsorship was provided by the employer. Candidates should already hold the right to work in Singapore before applying.

Frequently asked questions

Is this role fully remote or office-based?

The position is fully remote. However, BJAK is hiring specifically for the Singapore market and requires candidates to already be based in Singapore — remote working from another country is not accepted for this role.

Is a portfolio required to apply?

Yes. A portfolio is explicitly required and is reviewed as the first step in the interview process. Applications submitted without one will not progress to the next stage.

What does BJAK's interview process look like?

The process has four stages: a portfolio review, a practical design task (if applicable), a role-specific interview, and a final CEO interview. For strong candidates who complete assessments promptly, BJAK targets completing the full process and making an offer within one week of the first interview.

Does this role require prior fintech or financial services design experience?

Fintech experience is not listed as a stated requirement. However, the ability to simplify complex financial workflows into clean mobile interfaces is explicitly required, and the work spans payments, insurance, claims, and investments. Comfort with financial product contexts is effectively expected, even if your prior work was in adjacent industries.

What design tools does BJAK's team use?

The stated design stack includes Figma (with Auto Layout and interactive prototyping), FigJam, mobile design systems, iOS Human Interface Guidelines, and Android Material Design. Expert-level Figma proficiency is a hard requirement, not a preference.
