An analytical mindset and hands-on WMS experience are essential to succeed here.
About the Role
This fully onsite position sits at the heart of The Black Tux's warehouse operation in Jenkins Township, Pennsylvania. You'll be the go-to person for catching and resolving order problems before they ever reach a customer — monitoring pack walls, expediting priority shipments, flagging urgent dry-cleaning needs, and coordinating with inbound and outbound teams to hit daily shipping targets. Reporting to the Order Fulfillment Area Manager, you'll have direct, daily impact on whether customer commitments are met on time.
About The Black Tux
The Black Tux designs and manufactures modern formal wear — merino wool suits, linen blazers, velvet dinner jackets, silk accessories — sourced from premium textile mills. Customers are served through physical showrooms across the US, a predictive online fit process, and a customer care team that backs everything with a guaranteed-fit promise. This role is part of the Order Fulfillment Team, whose core mission is making sure every order ships correctly and on schedule, with direct collaboration with customer care to handle last-minute requests.
What You'll Do Day-to-Day
- Proactively identify and head off order delays; diagnose and resolve inventory discrepancies as they arise
- Coordinate with the fulfillment team to keep shipments on schedule and ensure promise dates are honored
- Surface recurring process gaps and propose workflow improvements before issues compound
- Respond to time-critical orders with urgency — identify root causes and implement solutions within defined windows
- Stay aligned with the Inbound team on newly received styles, repaired garments, and returned inventory
- Locate high-priority 'hot' items across Returns, Inspection, and Damage zones on the warehouse floor
- Flag orders requiring expedited dry cleaning; verify correct shipping methods and item accuracy on kick-outs
- Oversee pack wall activity to keep orders moving through packing within 60-minute targets
- Use Highjump WMS to monitor priority queues and ensure packing meets critical pull-time deadlines
- Submit End of Shift reports each day
- Reinforce SOPs and workplace safety protocols across the team
- Keep the work area clean and escalate safety hazards to the maintenance manager
- Contribute to picking, packing, and sorting during non-peak periods
- Train and onboard new team members through hands-on job support
- Champion a continuous improvement mindset throughout daily operations
Must-Have Requirements
- 1–2 years of hands-on experience as a warehouse associate or in a comparable logistics role
- Demonstrated experience operating Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and RF handheld devices
- Strong verbal and written communication skills — constant cross-team coordination is central to this job
- Background in a high-volume, fast-paced retail distribution center environment
- Analytical problem-solving approach with the ability to act quickly and effectively under pressure
- Solid planning skills and comfort collaborating across multiple departments simultaneously
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a dynamic, deadline-driven warehouse setting
- Working proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Drive
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs regularly throughout a shift
- Able to stand, walk, reach, and use ladders for extended periods (with scheduled breaks)
- Availability for mandatory overtime and weekend shifts during peak demand seasons
Nice to Have
- Bilingual in English and a second language
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and 5S workplace organization methodology
- Prior experience in the apparel industry, menswear, or a startup environment
Skills Breakdown: Must-Have vs. Differentiators
The hard-skill core is WMS proficiency (Highjump is the specific system referenced), RF handheld operation, and Excel/Google Drive — tools you'll use on every shift. Communication and analytical skills aren't soft extras here: this role operates as a live interface between Inbound, Customer Care, and Outbound simultaneously, so synthesizing information quickly and communicating decisions clearly is load-bearing. At 1–2 years required, this is a junior-to-mid warehouse role with genuine operational ownership. Lean/5S fluency and apparel industry background can differentiate you but won't block a strong candidate who lacks them.
Pay & Compensation
The Black Tux lists a pay band of $24–$26 per hour. At a standard 40-hour week, that equates to roughly $49,920–$54,080 annually before overtime — and the posting notes overtime may be required during peak seasons, which would lift total earnings above the base calculation. The company also conducts bi-annual compensation reviews, meaning your rate isn't locked at hire. No signing bonus, equity, or additional cash compensation data was provided in the job posting. For total compensation context, factor in the benefits package, which includes healthcare, 401(k), and wellness memberships.
Benefits
- Health coverage: competitive medical, dental, vision, and disability insurance
- 401(k) retirement savings plan, administered through Betterment
- Generous paid time off
- One Medical membership for primary care access
- Wellhub (Gympass) fitness membership
- Complimentary snacks and beverages on-site
- Paid holidays aligned with the company's holiday pay policy
- Employee cultural and engagement events
- Discounts on garment rentals and purchases — available to employees, their partners, and friends and family
- Compensation reviewed on a bi-annual basis
