Role at a Glance
A non-engineering QA role at a remote-first AI event-tech startup. You own the go/no-go call on every release for Popl's web Dashboard and mobile app, triage bugs from across the organization, support end users directly, and funnel feedback into the product roadmap. Salary: $70,000–$90,000/yr. Package includes equity, unlimited PTO, full health coverage, and a $150/month wellness credit.
About the Quality Assurance Analyst Role
Popl is hiring a Quality Assurance Analyst to serve as the final checkpoint before any update ships. This is a functional testing role — not a coding position — where judgment and thoroughness matter more than engineering credentials. You will work directly with the Popl web Dashboard and mobile application, catching defects before customers do and deciding whether each build clears the bar. Day-to-day, you'll move between product, engineering, and customer success teams, acting as the connective tissue that keeps quality standards consistent across the organization.
About Popl
Popl builds infrastructure for revenue teams that run in-person sales motions — trade shows, field events, conferences, and one-on-one meetings. Their AI-native platform captures leads at the point of physical contact (badge scans, shared contacts), enriches that data in real time, and synchronizes it directly with a CRM. The underlying thesis is that in-person channels are systematically underinstrumented compared to digital ones, and that revenue teams deserve the same measurability for a trade-show booth that they get from a Google Ads campaign. Popl is early in building out that category.
What You'll Do
- Test the Popl web Dashboard and mobile app end-to-end before each release, covering new features, updates, and verified bug fixes
- Make the final go/no-go call on whether a build is ready to go live
- Document all findings in detail and communicate defects clearly to engineering and product stakeholders
- Handle inbound customer support requests, diagnose platform issues, and guide users to resolution
- Collect, organize, and prioritize bug reports and feature requests from multiple internal teams to help drive roadmap decisions
- Bridge communication between developers, product managers, customer success, and sales on any quality-related matters
Must-Have Qualifications
- Extreme attention to detail — Popl asks applicants to include the text 'EATD' in their application as a filter for careful readers
- Prior hands-on experience providing technical support for SaaS products
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot software problems across web and mobile surfaces
- Ability to work with a SQL backend; Popl provides training, so deep prior SQL expertise is not required
- Self-directed working style with strong communication skills across both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Skills Breakdown: Required vs. Context
The only hard technical bar is SQL — and Popl removes that obstacle by offering training, so comfort rather than expertise is sufficient. Everything else is functional: the ability to think like an adversarial user, articulate a bug clearly enough that an engineer can reproduce it, and triage a backlog of competing issues without losing priority signal. Candidates who have worked SaaS support roles alongside engineering teams will recognize this environment immediately. No test-automation or scripting experience is listed or implied.
Compensation and Total Package
Popl lists a base salary range of $70,000 to $90,000 per year for this role. The package also includes meaningful equity participation, which is relevant context given the startup stage. The job posting does not specify a bonus structure, equity vesting schedule, or percentage — those details should be raised during the interview process. On top of base and equity, total compensation includes full health insurance and benefits, unlimited PTO, and a $150 monthly wellness credit.
Benefits and Perks
- Fully remote — no office attendance required
- Meaningful equity stake in the company
- Comprehensive health insurance and benefits coverage
- Unlimited paid time off
- $150 monthly wellness credit
- Daily exposure to cross-functional leaders across product, engineering, and customer success
Location and Work Setup
This position is fully remote and open to candidates based in the United States. No relocation is required. The job posting makes no mention of visa sponsorship or work authorization assistance — candidates who require sponsorship should confirm eligibility directly with Popl before applying.
