Role at a Glance
A warm-lead inbound sales seat at Checkatrade, the UK's largest trades marketplace. You'll own the full deal cycle — first contact through to signed membership — for trade businesses already looking to join. Based at Moorgate, London on a four-day-per-week hybrid schedule. Base salary undisclosed; commission is uncapped. Three interview stages. Visa sponsorship is not available for this opening.
What This Role Is Actually About
Checkatrade is hiring a Sales Associate to work its inbound pipeline of trade businesses already curious about joining the platform. Unlike outbound roles, enquiries arrive pre-qualified — your job is to understand each business's situation, map it to the right membership option, and steer the conversation through to a signed deal. Beyond closing, you'll log every interaction in Salesforce and feed market intelligence back to the commercial team, giving this role genuine influence that extends well beyond individual quota attainment.
About Checkatrade
Checkatrade operates the UK's largest directory of vetted trade professionals, serving both sides of the home-improvement market. Homeowners can search more than 50,000 listed tradespeople filtered by trade, location, and verified customer reviews; trade businesses gain a reliable channel for attracting qualified leads. With over six million published reviews anchoring its trust model, Checkatrade is pushing beyond directory status toward becoming the default destination for anyone planning home work — and this Sales Associate hire sits directly on that growth curve.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Pick up inbound phone and email enquiries from interested trade businesses promptly, with no gaps in follow-up
- Diagnose each prospect's business situation and connect their goals to the right Checkatrade membership tier
- Deliver a clear, confident pitch and navigate pricing scepticism or pushback in live conversation
- Own each deal from opening contact through to contract signature without handing off mid-cycle
- Keep an accurate, current pipeline and activity log inside Salesforce at all times
- Surface patterns from customer conversations — competitor signals, emerging trends, market shifts — and share them with the wider commercial team
- Coordinate with onboarding and operations colleagues to ensure new members land smoothly after signing
Must-Have Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable background in inbound sales, direct sales, or account management
- Consistent record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a previous commercial role
- Hands-on use of Salesforce or a comparable CRM for pipeline tracking and activity logging
- Clear, trust-building communication — strong across both written correspondence and live phone conversation
- Proven ability to handle objections and redirect stalled deals toward a close
Good to Have
- Composure and resilience in a high-tempo, target-driven team environment
- Genuine curiosity about market dynamics, competitor positioning, and industry movements
- Experience running the complete sales cycle independently, from first contact through post-close onboarding handoff
Skills Snapshot: Must vs. Nice to Have
Hard requirements centre on CRM proficiency — Salesforce specifically, though equivalent platforms are accepted — and the mechanics of inbound conversion: fast qualification, need-to-product matching, and confident closing. The communication bar is high in both directions: building rapport quickly by phone while also producing clear written follow-ups. Softer attributes — resilience, market curiosity, independent drive — are genuine differentiators but not hard blockers. Checkatrade signals that mindset and a credible target track record carry more weight than ticking every line on the list.
Salary and Earnings
No base salary figure has been published for this role. The employer confirms a competitive base paired with an explicitly uncapped commission structure, meaning earning potential scales directly with closed deals rather than hitting a fixed ceiling. An Employee Share Programme adds an equity-style layer for longer-term financial upside. Candidates should expect compensation specifics to be addressed during or after the initial screening call — this listing does not speculate on a number the employer has not disclosed.
Benefits Package
- Competitive base salary with uncapped commission
- Employee Share Programme
- Health, wellbeing and professional learning support
- Gym membership
- Smart Tech Scheme and Cycle to Work Scheme
- Birthday and special occasion leave
- Flexible holiday buy and sell scheme
- One week of fully paid charity leave per year
Location and Working Arrangement
The role is based at Checkatrade's Moorgate office in central London and runs on a hybrid schedule of four days per week in-office, with one day remote. Relocation support is not mentioned in the posting. Visa sponsorship is not available for this opening — applicants must hold existing UK work authorisation before applying.
