Role at a Glance

A senior-level, client-facing PM role at a global digital agency, based across Berlin and Hamburg. You will own the full project lifecycle—from initial scoping and proposal writing to on-time, on-budget delivery—for complex digital and e-commerce builds. Minimum 5 years of agency or corporate consulting experience required. Bilingual German/English fluency is non-negotiable. Salary not disclosed. Hybrid schedule: 1–2 office days per week.

About the Role

DEPT® is hiring a Senior Project Manager to anchor its Experience & Engineering unit in Germany. In this position, you serve as the operational backbone connecting clients, internal specialists, and cross-location delivery teams—translating business requirements into structured plans, keeping budgets accurate, and ensuring milestones land on schedule. Scope is deliberately broad: you will run complex, multi-track digital builds, contribute to proposal writing, and lead interdisciplinary squads spanning strategy, UX, development, and QA across the Berlin and Hamburg offices.

About DEPT®

DEPT® is a global digital agency operating at the crossroads of technology and marketing, partnering with ambitious brands on strategy, performance, data, e-commerce, and content. Certified as a B Corp® since 2021 and recognised as Agency of the Year at both The Lovies and The Webby Awards, DEPT® works across multiple geographies with teams that hold a shared standard for creative and technical quality. The Germany practice runs from offices in Berlin and Hamburg, serving a diverse client base from fast-scaling startups through to large multinational brands across industries.

What You Will Own

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver complex digital and e-commerce projects end-to-end, maintaining continuous visibility over milestone progress.
  • Manage the complete project arc—from initial proposal preparation and cost scoping through to KPI tracking and on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Act as the primary communication bridge between clients, internal expert teams, and all relevant stakeholders, ensuring requirements are clearly defined and mutually agreed.
  • Build and sustain trusted client relationships through confident, proactive advisory support and transparent progress communication.
  • Apply practical expertise in stakeholder management, risk identification, project controlling, and structured reporting throughout each engagement.
  • Lead cross-functional, cross-location teams day-to-day, keeping distributed squads across Berlin and Hamburg aligned and in close contact.

What You Will Need

  • At least 5 years of experience in a client-facing agency role or in direct, trusted client consulting within a corporate environment.
  • Full professional fluency in both German and English—written and spoken.
  • Practical, hands-on experience in the technical delivery of digital or e-commerce projects.
  • Solid command of both agile and classic project management methodologies, with working experience using tools such as Asana or Jira.
  • Demonstrable ability to produce cost overviews, budget summaries, and formal client proposals.
  • Confidence in designing detailed project plans that capture milestones, dependencies, and client-agreed deadlines.
  • A structured, self-directed working style with strong ownership, quality consciousness, and accountability.
  • A collaborative mindset with a track record of contributing to high-performing team environments.

Good to Have

  • Experience running multiple concurrent projects simultaneously across a portfolio.
  • Some prior background leading interdisciplinary teams spanning Strategy, UX/UI, Development, and QA disciplines.

Skills Snapshot

This role weights commercial accountability and client trust above tool familiarity. Hard requirements are bilingual German/English fluency, proven digital or e-commerce delivery experience, and practical agile and classic PM skills. Budget ownership—writing proposals, controlling costs, tracking KPIs—is explicitly in scope, so financial literacy is a must-have. Interdisciplinary team leadership and multi-project experience appear in the job description but are framed with softer language, placing them in the advantageous rather than disqualifying category. No PM certifications are specified anywhere in the posting.
