Role at a Glance
A management-level paid social position inside WPP Media's Global Operations Centre (GOC), supporting regional teams across the US, Europe, and Asia. You will supervise 2–5 direct reports, uphold platform best practices, and own quality delivery to global partners. Minimum bar: 3 years of paid social campaign experience and 1 year of formal people management. Based across Colombia (Barranquilla, Bogotá, or Medellín), hybrid schedule.
What This Role Is Really About
WPP Media's Global Operations Centre in Colombia needs a Social Manager to anchor paid social execution for markets stretching from North America to Asia-Pacific. Day to day, you are the connective tissue between GOC practitioners and regional counterparts — holding the line on campaign quality, platform standards, and delivery consistency regardless of time zone. Alongside that delivery mandate, you carry a genuine people-development responsibility: coaching a small team, setting a clear feedback cadence, and owning escalations end-to-end rather than passing them upward.
About WPP Media
WPP Media is the media operating unit of WPP, one of the world's largest communications groups. It brings media investment, data capabilities, and platform partnerships together under WPP Open, an AI-powered system designed to give clients full transparency into how their media budgets perform. Serving major global advertisers across dozens of markets, the unit focuses on pairing large-scale audience intelligence with personalised creative delivery to produce measurable commercial outcomes. The GOC structure places Colombia-based teams at the operational core of that global delivery engine.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with WPP Media regional leads in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific
- Act as the GOC's quality gatekeeper for paid social — reviewing output against platform standards before it reaches regional partners
- Own escalation handling for your team: identify root causes, drive resolutions, and prevent recurrence rather than applying short-term fixes
- Directly manage two to five practitioners through clear goal-setting, regular performance reviews, and a consistent feedback culture
- Deliver specific, actionable coaching tied to each team member's growth areas and current performance gaps
- Acknowledge strong performance visibly and address shortfalls constructively and in a timely manner
Must-Have Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any field
- Advanced English proficiency at the B2–C2 level on the CEFR scale
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on paid social campaign management experience
- At least 1 year of formal people-management or team-lead responsibility
- Advanced Excel skills — including data manipulation, pivot tables, and campaign performance analysis
Skills Breakdown — Must-Have vs. Context
The technical floor here is narrower than many comparable media manager roles: the employer requires paid social campaign experience but names no specific platforms (Meta Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.) in the listing, and Advanced Excel is the only named tool. The real differentiators are English fluency — B2–C2 is a meaningful bar for daily cross-regional communication — and a verifiable leadership record. Even a single year of formally managing people signals readiness for the escalation ownership and coaching cadence that sit at the centre of this GOC function.
