Job Snapshot
Anduril is hiring a Software Engineer for its Connected Warfare work in Costa Mesa, California. The role requires an active U.S. Secret clearance, 3-10+ years of programming experience, strong data-processing and systems skills, and willingness to travel 10-30% for customer, teammate, field build, test, and deployment work.
Role Overview
This position sits close to Anduril's Mission Command users and customers, where software engineers turn operational needs into deployable capabilities. The work spans mesh platforms, data interfaces, release workflows, monitoring, and production support. Candidates should be comfortable owning features from problem discovery through delivery, making tradeoffs between user needs and technical constraints, and working inside complex existing systems.
About Anduril Industries
Anduril Industries builds defense technology for U.S. and allied military customers. Its products combine software, autonomy, networking, sensors, and command-and-control systems, including capabilities connected to Lattice OS. The Connected Warfare Mission Command team focuses on integrating and scaling software and hardware used in real operating environments, including tactical-edge scenarios where connectivity, data flow, and system resilience matter.
What You Would Work On
- Own customer-deployed software across mesh networking platforms, data integrations, and release management workflows.
- Design and ship maintainable systems using engineering practices such as design review, code review, testing, and reliability-focused implementation.
- Work directly with end users to convert complex operational needs into usable software features.
- Coordinate with multiple engineering teams to plan, build, test, and deliver cross-functional capabilities.
- Create and review operational metrics, investigate production issues, identify root causes, and drive follow-up actions.
- Travel 10-30% to support customers, collaborate globally, understand field conditions, and help build, test, or deploy capabilities.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Current active U.S. Secret clearance and ability to maintain it.
- 3-10+ years of experience using programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, C++, Rust, or similar languages.
- Engineering foundation from professional experience or academic study in areas such as computer science, software engineering, networking, mathematics, or physics.
- Experience building software that processes and analyzes meaningful volumes of data.
- Ability to become productive in complex systems and mature codebases.
- Interest in building software tied to real-world mission impact.
Preferred Experience
- Experience designing or building distributed systems.
- Track record of delivering strong results quickly, especially in startup or high-growth environments.
- Deep networking knowledge, particularly for distributed systems in unusual or constrained network conditions.
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, and infrastructure fundamentals such as networking, security, and distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of computers and networks across endpoints, clusters, and cloud environments.
- Professional software development lifecycle experience with version control, CI/CD, and related tools.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and data management tools and practices.
Skills Breakdown
The core skill set is backend and systems-heavy: programming depth, data processing, codebase navigation, and active Secret clearance are must-haves. Distributed systems, networking, AWS, Azure, monitoring, logging, CI/CD, and infrastructure knowledge are listed as preferred advantages. The 3-10+ year experience range and end-to-end ownership expectations point to a mid-to-senior engineering profile rather than an entry-level role.
