Role at a Glance
Centria Autism is hiring a bilingual (English/Spanish) Behavior Technician in San Antonio, TX. Pay: $18–$25/hr. No prior ABA experience required — Centria provides full training and supports you through RBT certification after onboarding. Sessions are one-on-one with children on the autism spectrum, clinically supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
What This Role Is About
As a Behavior Technician, you become the primary therapeutic contact for a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder, delivering Applied Behavior Analysis sessions under the direction of a supervising BCBA. Daily work centers on individualized intervention plans — using evidence-based methods to build communication, social, and independent living skills while reducing behaviors that interfere with a child's progress. Because this posting targets a Spanish-speaking technician specifically, your bilingual ability becomes a direct clinical tool, enabling you to serve families and children whose primary language is Spanish.
About Centria Autism
Centria Autism is a provider specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis therapy for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Their model pairs each child with a dedicated Behavior Technician who executes a plan designed and supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. The organization invests in frontline staff through structured onboarding and credentialing support — new hires receive comprehensive training and are guided through the Registered Behavior Technician certification process. Centria positions direct-care roles as entry points into a defined career path within the behavioral analysis field, not as dead-end hourly positions.
What You Will Do Day-to-Day
- Deliver one-on-one ABA therapy sessions with assigned children in a designated setting
- Execute individualized behavior intervention plans as designed by a supervising BCBA
- Apply evidence-based techniques to teach communication, social interaction, and daily living skills
- Monitor and work to reduce interfering behaviors in accordance with each child's clinical plan
- Maintain active physical engagement throughout sessions — standing, moving, and adapting to the child's pace
- Document session data and communicate observations to the supervising BCBA
- Complete RBT certification requirements during and following the onboarding period
Must-Have Requirements
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish — a hard requirement for this specific posting
- High school diploma or GED
- 18 years of age or older
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check
- Ability to obtain CPR certification, First Aid certification, and a current tuberculosis (TB) test result
- Physical capability to stand, sit, squat, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift or carry up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to earn a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification after onboarding (training is provided)
- Patience, compassion, and the ability to remain composed in a physically active, unpredictable child-facing environment
Skills That Actually Matter for This Role
Bilingual Spanish fluency is the defining differentiator for this specific posting — without it, candidates cannot be considered. Beyond language, requirements are temperament- and fitness-driven rather than credential-driven: patience, physical stamina, and composure under unpredictable conditions. Technical ABA knowledge is explicitly not a barrier to entry — Centria trains new hires from the ground up and supports them through RBT credentialing post-hire. Prior childcare, special education, or healthcare experience is a genuine asset but is not listed as a requirement. The RBT designation is an earned, post-onboarding milestone, not a prerequisite.
Pay and Compensation Details
The employer-stated pay range for this position is $18 to $25 per hour. Centria notes that actual placement within this range depends on individual qualifications, relevant experience, and seniority — no candidate is guaranteed either endpoint. Early wage access is available through Rain, a third-party service that allows you to draw earned wages before your scheduled payday. No overtime rates, signing bonuses, or additional cash compensation details were included in the original posting. If where your background lands within the $18–$25 range matters to your decision, raise that question directly with the hiring team during the interview.
Benefits and Perks

Location and Work Setup
This position is based in San Antonio, Texas, and requires full on-site presence. The work is inherently in-person — one-on-one ABA therapy with children cannot be delivered remotely. The posting does not mention relocation assistance or visa sponsorship; candidates should assume neither is on offer and confirm directly with the hiring team if either situation applies to them.
