Role at a Glance
Senior QA automation engineer embedded in ConnectWise's quality engineering team in Pune. Scope: framework ownership, multi-platform automated testing (REST/SOAP APIs, web apps, mobile apps), and CI/CD pipeline quality gates in an Agile sprint cadence. Hybrid schedule — three days per week in the Pune or Mumbai office. Core mandatory stack: Python, Playwright/Selenium, Postman, Git, SQL, Jira, and AI tooling. Salary not disclosed by employer.
What This Role Is
ConnectWise is strengthening its Pune-based quality engineering function and wants a senior test engineer who can own the full quality lifecycle — not merely execute someone else's test plan. You'll embed in cross-functional Agile squads alongside developers, product managers, and DevOps practitioners, driving test strategy from planning through release sign-off. The application surface is intentionally broad: REST and SOAP APIs, web front ends, and mobile apps that all interact with backend databases. Day-to-day work spans building and maintaining automation frameworks, defect triage and root cause analysis, CI/CD pipeline test integration, and publishing quality metrics that inform release readiness decisions.
About ConnectWise
ConnectWise develops business management and automation software designed specifically for managed service providers and technology solution providers. Its platform addresses service delivery automation, sales workflow management, remote monitoring, and business operations — capabilities used by more than 45,000 partner organizations across the globe. The company employs over 3,000 people distributed across North America, EMEA, and the Asia-Pacific region. ConnectWise publicly emphasizes a workplace culture built around inclusive practices and individual contribution, with stated equal opportunity commitments covering a broad range of identities and backgrounds.
What You'll Do
- Embed in Agile quality engineering squads, contributing to test planning, execution, and reporting throughout each sprint cycle
- Test complex REST and SOAP APIs, web applications, and mobile apps that integrate with backend database systems
- Build, maintain, and execute automated test suites using Playwright, Selenium, and Appium across UI and mobile surfaces
- Design, develop, and troubleshoot test automation frameworks and integrated CI/CD pipeline test stages
- Diagnose, track, reproduce, and verify resolution of defects before each customer-facing software release
- Produce and keep current all testing artifacts: test plans, test cases, test procedures, and test summary reports
- Convert project scope and release timelines into structured test schedules and risk-based testing strategies
- Write SQL queries to validate backend data correctness and support end-to-end test verification
- Conduct root cause analysis on test failures and communicate preventive recommendations to engineering teams
- Analyze historical test metrics and quality trends to support continuous process improvement
- Define and evolve quality standards, testing methodologies, and release readiness criteria for engineering teams
- Review software documentation for technical accuracy, completeness, and compliance risk before customer releases
Must-Have Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a closely related discipline
- Proven hands-on experience in software test automation across APIs (REST and SOAP), web applications, and mobile applications
- Python proficiency for writing, structuring, and maintaining automated test scripts
- UI automation framework experience: Playwright and/or Selenium required; Appium expected for mobile test coverage
- API testing tool fluency: Postman, Swagger, and/or Rest Assured
- Solid grasp of Test Automation Framework design, test case management, and defect lifecycle management
- Version control with Git; practical daily use of at least one test or defect management platform (Jira, Azure DevOps, or TestRail)
- SQL skills sufficient to query databases, validate data, and support end-to-end test assertions
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipeline concepts and how automated tests plug into those pipelines
- Experience operating within Agile/Scrum development teams
- AI tools experience — explicitly listed by the employer as a mandatory minimum, not optional
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to document findings and influence engineering decisions with data
Preferred but Not Mandatory
- Cloud platform hands-on experience: AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- Performance and load testing using JMeter or LoadRunner
- ISTQB Foundation or Advanced certification, or an equivalent industry QA credential
- Container and orchestration experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- CI/CD tooling exposure: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps Pipelines
Skills Breakdown — Required vs. Preferred
At this seniority level, ConnectWise treats Python scripting, Playwright/Selenium framework work, Postman-based API testing, Git, SQL, Jira, and CI/CD integration as the non-negotiable baseline. Notably, AI tools proficiency is called out as an explicit mandatory minimum — a strong signal that the team expects candidates to be actively using AI-assisted development and testing workflows, not learning them on the job. The preferred tier (cloud platforms, Docker/Kubernetes, ISTQB, performance testing) carries real weight as differentiators between otherwise equal candidates but are not listed as hard gates. Appium occupies a middle position: it appears under the mandatory skills section but is flagged '(preferred)' — mobile testing depth will likely be a tie-breaker in the evaluation process.
