About the Role
This VP of Employee Benefits Account Management position sits at the intersection of client strategy, technical insurance expertise, and hands-on team collaboration. You will own a dedicated book of business from initial onboarding through annual renewal — serving as the primary strategic advisor who aligns coverage solutions with each client's organizational objectives and workforce priorities. The role carries genuine revenue accountability, including account profitability tracking and revenue reconciliation, alongside the relationship work. Think of it as a senior hybrid position: part trusted client advisor, part service delivery owner, part cross-functional collaborator.
About Foundation Risk Partners
Foundation Risk Partners has built a strong national footprint as an insurance brokerage and consulting firm, recognized for sustained growth in an industry where scaling quickly is uncommon. The firm covers multiple lines of coverage and operates with a consulting-forward approach — positioning itself as a long-term strategic partner rather than a transactional placement shop. The 94% renewal rate cited for this team reflects how the firm measures its own service quality: in retention, not just new acquisition. FRP backs its employees with a comprehensive benefits stack including full medical, dental, and vision coverage; company-paid life insurance; short- and long-term disability; 401(k) with employer match; and a time-off package of 18 PTO days plus 12 paid holidays.
What You Will Own
- Serve as the strategic lead for all employee benefits client accounts, setting service direction and quality standards across every line of coverage
- Design benefit programs that reflect each employer's distinct culture, workforce demographics, and organizational priorities
- Own the full account lifecycle — from day-one onboarding through mid-year reviews and annual renewal — ensuring every deliverable lands on time
- Proactively monitor healthcare market shifts and regulatory changes; surface relevant implications to clients before they need to ask
- Partner with internal specialists and external vendors to build creative, cost-effective coverage structures
- Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within the existing book; collaborate with the sales team to convert them
- Maintain account profitability metrics and reconcile revenue against plan on an ongoing basis
Must-Have Qualifications
- Active Life & Health Insurance License — listed as a hard requirement with no exceptions noted
- 7+ years of account management experience at a health and welfare carrier or brokerage firm
- Deep working knowledge of insurance products, healthcare market dynamics, and regulatory compliance requirements
- Proven track record managing complex, multi-stakeholder client relationships at a strategic advisory level
- Hands-on capability in financial modeling and carrier negotiation
- Ability to manage competing client timelines and deliverables concurrently without gaps in execution
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Clear, effective communicator — written and verbal — with high organizational discipline
- Demonstrated ability to develop junior team members and collaborate effectively across organizational lines
Preferred (Not Strictly Required)
- Bachelor's degree — the posting explicitly notes this as preferred rather than mandatory, indicating relevant experience can substitute
Skills Breakdown: Required vs. Preferred
The must-have skill stack rests on three pillars: (1) technical insurance fluency — product knowledge, healthcare compliance, and market trend awareness; (2) financial acumen — building carrier negotiation models and reconciling account-level revenue; and (3) relationship leadership — managing VP-tier client conversations, not simply executing service tasks. The Life & Health License is a binary hard gate; candidates without it will not advance regardless of other qualifications. A bachelor's degree is listed as preferred, not required — deep relevant experience can substitute. At this seniority, a 10+-year candidate with established carrier relationships will be as competitive as someone at the 7-year minimum with a tighter credential set.
Salary & Pay Transparency
Foundation Risk Partners has disclosed a pay transparency range of $120,000 to $135,000 USD annually. Per the employer's own language, this range represents the estimated floor and ceiling — final offers will vary based on individual performance, geographic factors within the region, and depth of relevant experience. A candidate at the 7-year experience minimum should generally expect anchoring toward the lower end of the band; someone with a longer brokerage or carrier track record and documented client retention results has meaningful room to negotiate toward $135,000. No bonus, commission, or equity details were disclosed in this posting.
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision health coverage
- 401(k) retirement plan with company match
- Company-paid life insurance
- Short-term disability (STD) coverage
- Long-term disability (LTD) coverage
- 18 days paid time off (PTO) starting from hire date
- 10 paid company holidays per year
- 2 floating holidays per year
